Our homework goal in the Second Grade is to have about forty to sixty minutes of homework each night, Monday-Friday. It will usually consist of spelling, grammar, reading, and math. Homework is very important as it serves as practice and reinforcement for the skills taught each day/week in class.
*Your student will be given a new Math Log and a new Reading Log every week. These should be filled out every night by the student and signed or initialed by the parent/guardian. I ask that the students complete at least 10 minutes of reading per night from a book or magazine of their choice, along with at least 10 minutes of math homework sent home by me or if there is not any homework, then a math game of some sort. It is very important to keep track of this on the logs so that I can see the progress of the students throughout the year and also so that they can see their own progress. I reward students who read and fill out their log and who fill out their math logs each week.
At least 4 nights per week = 1 rock in the class reward jar
Every Night for a week = 2 rocks in the class reward jar
